New Barbara Hepworth Exhibition at Tate St Ives

A visit to Barbara Hepworth’s garden and studio in St Ives is a highlight of any visit to the town. However, a recently opened major retrospective of her life and work at  Tate St Ives, makes the trip even more worthwhile.

Featuring work spanning the entirety of Hepworth’s long career, the new exhibition showcases a number of her best sculptures, often inspired by and rooted in the ancient landscape and coastline of the Penwith Peninsula. However, the exhibition also features many of her beautiful drawings and paintings – including some wonderful drawings of surgeons and nurses in operating theatres, as well as her bold designs for theatrical stage sets and costumes.

The exhibition runs until 1 May 2023. St Ives is about 7 miles in the car from Penzance or 20 to 30 minutes on the train.
